Alternative Router for BT Digital Voice

[link to this post]

Hi all,

Are there any routers out there or are there any plans for a manufacturer to develop a router other than BT's Smart Hub 2, that can support BT's Digital Voice? I don't mind using BT's Smart Hub 2, but I'm just curious.

Cheers,

Will

It's a deliberately closed ecosystem. No third-party routers are supported for DV and I don't believe there are any plans for there to be.

Thought so. We're thinking of ditching our landline anyway, we barely use it.

You could put it on ice by porting it, when your contract renewal comes up. Presumably if you don't mind an outage on the broadband when its ceased. You'd have to time it with a re-provide or renewal to minimise. But there would be some gap in service as things currently stand.

You could fill the gap with a temporary mobile broadband setup - use an old mobile in hotspot mode with an unlimited data SIM. Imperfect but enough to provide some connectivity to tide you over until you get reconnected properly.
