House move PlusNet Full Fibre 900 new router

[link to this post]

have been using mobile broadband for a few years now so currently looking into wifi routers.

Moving next month up to the north east of Scotland. I have PN Full Fibre 900 getting installed.

I usually don't use the ISP supplied routers as historically found them very poor and locked down.

In the past I went for Asus that I could use Merlin firmwares on. The RT-BE-92U has caught my eye.

I have a TP- Link TL-WPA4221 AV600 Kit that will be repurposed for outside coverage in the summer. Never had TP or Netgear routers before.

Been looking at the UniFi Express 7 and their stuff.

The property is a 3 bedroom new build semi detached bungalow with an approx area of 62.09m3

Looking for recommendations please

Cheers

Have serious think about UniFi ... The whole eco-system, gateway, switch, APs, cameras, storage all works together with just a single user interface. Depending on the internal construction - brick, block, board, foil-backed board, will really determine the additional APs needed. You can then chose to hardwire or mesh from the gateway (and AP).

I personally use Unifi - setting up BQM is fairly easy but needs some rules, IPv6 works too. On mione there are 3 (soon 4) APs, 3+ switches, 10 cameras, 16TB of video and all through a fairly friendly single interface which I can access from PC, phone, tablet both on-site or remote. My UDM-Pro has been in for coming up 5 years - no issues and the high end domestic/residential level.

Looking at ebay some of those are priced higher than buying from Ubiquiti directly!

If you are unsuccessful with the offer look at teh UI store: https://uk.store.ui.com/uk/en/category/all-cloud-gat... and most comes with a 2-year warranty.

Lets see what happens - have you confirmed it comes with the USB power adapter and UK power cord?

If you believe you want to go the Ubiquiti route - and it is an excellent choice for high end residential. Buld a full order - gateway, extra APs, UI cables - nice and thin so can be hidden, maybe a camera or two, doorbell &c &c and order direct from the UK store. All come with 2 year warranty.
