AVM Fritz Routers

[link to this post]

Does anyone know what FritzOS as used in the Fritzbox routers is based on? Most routers appear to use a variant of Linux, but I wondered if the Fritz range uses Linux or is based on BSD.

I did see (presumably) your post over at ISPR but forgot to reply...

Quick Google will tell you all you need to kno, but essentially its a Linux base with some proprietary AVM bits sprinkled over the top.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, it was me over on ISPR. I did do a Google search but failed to find the link you supplied.

Very interesting. Since they bang on about security in their promo literature, I wondered if they based FritzOS on BSD Unix rather than Linux, but apparently not
