Hi All:

I am on an exchange which Eclipse does not have LLU and therefore I am going through BT wholesale network to get to Eclipse's network. Since the start of 2011 I have noticed that in the evening and to at least past 24h00 the results of the speed test used by this site show speeds of 1300 Kbps to 1900 Kbps but in the morning (06h00 and on) I can get around 3200 Kbps. I have results going back to early March 2009.

Running the BT's speed test: I see similar results. The line has a 3500 profile on it

So is this just congestion on BT Wholesale and/or Eclipse's network or traffic shaping? Any ideas?

I really doubt that Eclipse will be putting in LLU into this exchange anytime soon so would going to a provider that does have LLU improve matters any?

Some other information: filtering is on all phone sockets. The modem/router is connected at the main socket.

The router is showing:
Downstream Rate: 4288 Kbps
Upstream Rate: 448 Kbps
Downstream Margin: 8 db
Upstream Margin: 24 db
Downstream Line Attenuation: 49
Upstream Line Attenuation: 28

The exchange is serving 8159 residential and 178 non-residential premises.

Using tracert we observe the number of hops to get to

What exchange are you on? Use this link to SamKnows.

Eclipse don't have their own LLU, they use, for example, Tiscali, which I'm on.
