Torrents and Entanet.

[link to this post]

Just joined the network via a reseller.

I pay my TV licence and dont think I should have to own one of the few PMP the bbc approve to watch what I pay for on the move, that said.

The torrents/sites I use are not just throttled but totally blocked, even the tracker I use is blocked. "connection closed by peer"

Is this just me? Im not using a router.

Is there a way around this?

I was and still am being told by the vISP its not blocked, so no help there.

Very disapointed.

Illegaly sourced content that you don't have the right to watch, shared over the internet via torrents is illegal

The torrent protocol isn't illegal.

back under the bridge please.

That argument has never worked in court. I think I'll take a judge's opinion over yours.

And if you recall I wasn't asking yours or a judges legal position, so why you felt the need to chime in puzzles me.

Im sure there are many web sites and attached forums you can discuss the moral and legal ramifications of the .torrent protocol.

My question/post wasn't intended to be one of those places, in case your confused ducky.

However if you feel so strongly to hijack peoples post Ii am sure you could create a topic somewhere on these forums.

Now shooo lest you frighten away someone help full.

I guess with that post you were trying to distract me with your bad spelling and grammar? Nice try, but let's stick to the topic. Entanet are a legal company, they aren't going to just let you do what you want with their internet.

Given the number of people who use torrents I suspect you'd find the forum full of complaints if Enta were blocking downloads ... of course I could be wrong. tongue

No that wasn't the intention, however you have confirm what I already suspected.

A troll of epic proportions, one that nit pics on grammar and spelling, well done.

And I must say you made me giggle.

"Entanet are a legal company, they aren't going to just let you do what you want with their internet."

So by your definition most of the other providers that throttle but not ban the .torrent protocol, arnt legal company's?

Would you like to call the police or shall I?

Fact is I was sold it as working, im just trying to establish if it is or not.

Thats it, there really is no need for the preachy bs.

Hi, Thanks for the reply.

Your right, im sure there would be more posts if there were a problem.

Thats why im really struggling to find a solution/answer.

Ive connected 3 pc/laptops to the BTO box, and connected via pppoe.
On all of them had the same issue, so I don't think its my side.
Torrents wont work and http://broadband.mpi-sws.org/transparency/bttest.php
confirms its not.

yet My vISP insist that its not blocked.

So unless BTO are blocking it en route to entanets systems, I don't know what it could be, however ive never heard of that before either.

I just dont know what to think anymore :/

What time of day did you try these torrents?

What area are you in?

P2P traffic always has a lower priority across Enta's network. If you were trying this at a time the network was near capacity or was experiencing congestion then p2p packets are likely to have been dropped or timed out as a result.

Private sites often used by people who like to keep the things they download private.

What's funny is these people not knowing that these private sites are far from private and the things they are downloading or have downloaded are easily trackable.

FAIL.

Absolutely no problem with torrents here.

Have you got any kind of AV or malware apps running? Malwarebytes has definitely been know to play silly beggers with torrents on my system.

Try setting up port forwarding to see if that helps.

All comments relating to the leagality of torrents ignored. smile

Don't be stupid. There are other legal use for torrent - for example I download Linux distro using torrent. Are you saying it's illegal?

As someone pointed out, the torrent protocol itself is not illegal. It depends on what you use it for.

Has to be FTTC, based on the contract length and the "OR box".

Seems a bit daft not to have a router costing under £40 if there are 3 machines available to use it. Maybe one plus 2 spares tongue.
