Enta going to match BT prices?

[link to this post]

Unfortunately I'm stuck on a Market 1 exchange, but with recent price changes to BT new broadband packages for £16 per month with unlimited usage and no throttling, are Enta going to compete or shall I just move?

i am also hoping for this, latency is my main thing, I need a great ping and enta gives me that. But I want to be able to download when I want, not between midnight and 8am

I really do not understand this.

I have a family30 account, and on average really use 60% of it each month.

And I run a web and mail server from home.

Plus using a smart TV iPlayer stuff, and my wife is always on facebook et al.

What on earth do you download to require such usage?

I don't know what variant of Enta you are on, but mine is unmetered from 7:00pm and ALL weekend, so have my work cut out to use the 40gb daytime Mon - Fri.

We have a 16 year old who streams music and videos most the time lol, I am a gamer, if it was only things like facebook and email i wouldnt be worried, thats nothing compared to streaming.
Plus if I buy a game, it needs to be downloaded, games these days are usually around 15GB, then there is the patches to consider.

You obviously don't watch many iPlayer one hour HD videos which are more than 1GB each.

I use catchup TV every night and this really runs away with your allowance, nearly every month I overshoot. Fortunately I bought some extra GB so I won't miss out of my nightly fix.. But to be honest, Enta are way behind on the needs of us using the Internet at the moment and should up their game if they are gonna keep customers.. I for one am looking to move to an unlimited company.. I've been very happy with Enta until now, it's so sad frown

Given that, how are Enta these days? Are they fairly quick, or do you guys suspect their network might not cope so gracefully with unlimited users on it?

It does depend to quite a large extent which Entanet Node you are connected to! Which you don't have any control over - a bit of a weak point in their service IMO.

Let's hope they and their resellers get the pricing right.

I'm bombarded by many BT letters/calls each month asking me to switch to their cheap unlimited (& with call packages) offers (FREE for 6 months, etc. etc.).

I'm mostly only still with Entanet as I like the web hosting extras that come with my Freeola connection.

Well I'm on the Ardwick exchange right by Manchester, so.. Would I be foolish to believe that any connection would almost certainly go via the Manchester node?

I'm not definitely moving either, just reviewing options and deciding whether to bail from the Be* connection I'm currently on!

Not easy to say!

See my Entanet Interconnect Node change TBB post.

I was on Faraday since IPSC arrived but have recently found myself on Stepney Green - even though neighbours on the same exchange are still on Faraday???

I've asked Freeola if this is a reporting error or if I've been moved - but they haven't answered.

The good thing is you can try things out for a month as there's no tie-in contract smile
EDIT: Today's new TBB news item says this will be a 12 month contract...

Have you asked yourself - Do BT compete with your Entanet service reliability?

Looks like they are not going to match BT's prices but they are going unlimited, which is fine by me.
As for moving ? that depends on if your happy with your Enta connection, I know I am.

Haven't seen any prices yet - but for me it's not going to be available frown

Apparently it isn't financially viable on 20CN lines. So they aren't quite "competing with retail broadband providers" as their blurb states...

WBC is 90% of UK lines these days so a massively bigger foot print than say Virgin Media.

Haven't seen any prices yet

Suggested reseller price for ADSL is £23.99 inc VAT for home, £33.99 plus VAT for business. For FTTC it's £32.10 inc VAT for home, £41.49 plus VAT for business. 12 month contract, WBC Exchanges only as already said.

I work for an Enta reseller, they launched the unlimited products to resellers on Monday.
