FTTC and Poweline Adaptors

Is anyone currently using Poweline Adaptors with their FTTC broadband connection? I ask as my cab is due to go live in the new year and I am currently using a pair of dLAN Ethernet adaptors on my existing ADSL connection, due to the distance between my main socker and PC. I wonder if this will have any impact when when I upgrade?

As long as their capable of pushing the higher speed of FTTC they will be fine. I use a pair of NetGear XAVB2501 and they work fine on FTTC.

It's a pair of Homeplug 85Mbps so they should do the job.

I wouldn't be so sure about that.
On my 85's I get throughput around 15.
On my 200's I get throughput around 40.

sounds like you have an issue with your wiring or there is some surge protectors somewhere killing your throughput as I get 75 meg/sec with my 85's

Is that the connection speed reported by the homeplug software or the measured throughput of a file transfer?
My Devolo 200's report that they are connecting at 180mbps but actual transfers run around 40.

Depends on how far the signal is going, seperate ring mains etc.

My 85s struggle to do over 20Mbps

I'm getting the same as danielowenuk. No surge supressors but the plugs are on different rings.

What is the best way to test this?

If you have two pcs at either end of the network you can just copy a large file from one to the other.
Windows will display the average transfer speed.
