The power lead length has been answered. Yes, wall mount it, I am starting to have a pet theory, that wall mounted is best. Your new 'fibre' 2-wire is identical in shape, but the side 'panels' are solid rather than vented. I can't recall wall mounting holes for either, but will check for you later.

If the given lead is not used then make sure you change it if anything goes wrong !

I keep the old one coiled up and draped over the modem just in case tongue

Why on earth BT couldn't supply Cat5 beats me, it's not that expensive. An old saw about a ha'porth of tar comes to mind frown

By side panels I presume you mean the 200x150 mm sides.

I have two elongated Z shaped brackets screwed to the wall which slot quite nicely into the vent slots on the top and bottom - when viewed on the stand with te cables dropping out from below. It works well and the case does not even get warm.

2wire2700HGV wallmount - a nice simple solution

General Layout - I will probably mount the modem where the ISDN PBX is currently fitted as it uses the same fixings and then move teh PBX off to the right of the NTE8.

Power is about 1 meter to the left - plenty of sockets too!

It arrived yesterday - a quick look and can see it has just three slots in the edges - but they are still just right to mount it - all the indicators are on the top though rather than a corner but only a problem if it fails.

Just have to wait for Tuesday midday.

The modem and hub sat flat for a few hours before being properly mounted and the case temperature was probably 10 to 15 degrees warmer when flat. Now they are wall mounted the cases are at ambient with obviously a good air flow through them.

Thats why we advise people to leave both on a hard flat surface, not on the carpet...simples !

Mobile broadband does not mean walking around with the router on top of your head tongue!

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk
My domains, website and mail hosting - Tsohost. Internet connection - O2 Standard.
