Cabinet is scheduled right beside us, install date Sept. We're one of five houses with overhead wire from one distribution pole. Works fine for us light users.
Shall we have to apply for FTTC connection? Will it replace the wire anyway?

FTTC cabinets get sited close to the existing cabinet and connected to that to get the VDSL2 signal onto the existing copper from that to you. Your phone continues to work over the copper from the existing cab to the exchange. It doesn't go through the fibre.

21 Lisnagelvin Rd 30-Apr-2011

My cabinet, its showing all cabinets in Derry with an install date of 30th April, i dunno how they are gonna install over 100 cabinets in a month?

Hmmm BT availability checker is showing nothing for FTTC either.

Still not for me as such. Maybe the will include me as the 88% when the cabinet 1.1 miles away goes live and I might be able to get around 8Mb as I am fed through a distribution pillar frown

Emailed the enquiry team anyway so I will be waiting for the big F Off from them!

'Yes I am talking about FTTC' i'm on ADSL2+ with a blistering 1Mb speed. The cab when upgraded to fibre should get me around 8Mb approx.

The graphs that I have seen posted here are misleading as 1.1 miles shows approx 16Mb download so not sure by it all.

Yes, 30th April 2011 is our target date to get your cabinet (and all the others in the Derry area) completed.

Was round the corner at the local spar tonight in lurgan, noticed a nice new big green cabinet with a few barriers round it that must have been fitted the past couple of days.

They're movin pretty damn fast, if only Sky were as quick with offering it to subscibers, no way im gonna move back to BT.
