Nice
I think you will find this link to it works better though.
About the same as mine now. I never went on interleaved for some reason.
Did you spot the packet loss spoke at the same time as it happened?

Register (or login) on our website and you will not see this ad.
|

That's about the same change that I get as it switches between fastpath and interleaved (10ms <==> 20ms).
At the moment it seems to have decided to stick on interleaved

quite a step down that 'Tis great. (The latency spikes are a single tbb speed test earlier and two together just now - around 68-70MB each.)
I'd like to see some Infinity graphs .

I'd like to see some Infinity graphs . So would I, but doubt we will- dynamic IP afaik.

At 22:30hrs ? No, in fact no human initiated activity at that point, teenage boys out, myself and Mrs Broadbandjockey watching the telly. Only my desktop was on.
Interesting tool isn't it ? I keep an eye on other connections I 'support' with it, I notice my mother-in-law's Newnet LLU connection suddenly went dead yesterday, suddenly changed to solid red. Just off to investigate !
|
|
Sudden solid red usually means either someone has turned the router off or the IP has changed... can't remember if Newnet use static or dynamic.

Isn't their LLU being disbanded after takeover ?
Phil
MaxDSL - goes as fast as it can and doesn't read the line checker first.
MaxDSL diagnostics
Are your kids pirates ? Limewire, Bearshare, Kazaa, BitTorrent, eMule are all tools of the trade.

I've no idea Phil... and tbh I'd forgotten about that

It is, but the e-mail I received (I 'run' the account in question) said that the migration back to BT 21C was going to occur on a day in April, and they will me give notice of what that day will be. I don't think any such works would be carried out on a Saturday. The failure occurred at 11:00hrs.
The account is supposed to have a static IP address, so most probably the router has crashed for some reason, anyway, more later after I've visited !

Router had lost PPP negotiation, DSL communication was unaffected and still hapilly running. Rebooted, and service restored !

http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ping/share/368852cda6a... Yuk!
But do you have to be on Virgin ADSL? Known to be one of the worst?

nope i don't have to be on Virgin. According to the BT line checker FTTC is available, i'm just looking around at the moment to see what's best.

thanks for that, but i already know. I think it's between BT Infinity and ADSL24. Aquiss seems a popular one but that's to expensive i think, for me at least.
|
|
Need any advice on any of our packages? If so just ask
Thanks
|
|
With your FTTC packages do you use interleave or Fastpath?
Would i easily be able to switch or would i have to contact support and ask them to do it?
|
|
Hi
We use the default that Openreach set, which I believe (but can't guarantee) is Fast Path. That is how it normally works on 21CN/20CN etc. With FTTC there is no same option to enabled/disable Interleaving, however I'm guessing it can be done manually if required.
Thanks
|
|
Mine on IDNet seems to have been solidly on Fast Path since connection 18 Feb. Some, for example Billford seem to have less stable lines due to local issues and it switches automatically in and out of interleaved at intervals.
Mine latency is 11-13ms, Bill's the same on FP, around 20ms on interleaved. See the OP of this thread as well.

It may be worth mentioning that I haven't contacted Customer Support to check if they can see what's going on with my line, or what they may be able to do about it.
Which probably wouldn't be much, considering how BT have changed the degree of investigation they can be bothered to do these days

Hi folks, hope you don't mind me asking in here but what would the best settings be for this service with AQUISS FTTC please?
AQUISS FTTC

Hi folks, hope you don't mind me asking in here but what would the best settings be for this service with AQUISS FTTC please?
AQUISS FTTC How do you mean, the "best settings"? The BQM is a monitor, not a service.
Given a full day of it so we can accurately see where you are on the left-hand y-axis I that might indicate Fast Path ot Interleaved, I guess FP with poor latency, though it may be Interleaved with good latency What does a ping to www.bbc.co.uk give you?.
Just out of interest, what speed did you get from the 5:52 speed test, and what was the estimate?

I just meant the best choice of options when setting up the monitor, sorry if I didn't make that clear.
|
|
Exactly! What options? I'm not aware of any.

|
Well, as FTTC isn't listed as a choice I picked ADSL but I have no idea which to pick from the list of suppliers etc.
|
|
Mine has been running a few days now...
Aquiss FTTC
|
|
I wish my latency was like that! I can't open your speedtest result on my phone for some reason. Can you tell me the speeds?
Do you know how far you are from the cabinet and what package are you on at Aquiss?
Knowing how it works is completely different to understanding how it works.
|
|
I estimate about 600m from the cabinet and speeds are fantastic (Usenet speed is quite obscene!).
