Well my first theory is dead, so let's try again smile.

When you got the slow speed, was that from some other speed tester, or when downloading something for real? Were you running wired or wireless at the time?

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk
My domains, website and mail hosting - Tsohost. Internet connection - IDNet Home Starter Fibre. Live BQM.

Afternoon all.

Am running wired.

Ran the usual speedtest.net and the BT one , also a newsgroup download with 20 connections.

At peak would run at just over 4.2mb per sec down.

Just to follow on from this as the ticket now shows resolved.

No phone calls or emails or contact from BT at all.

Speeds are back to their original stats and all seems to be working well.

Nice to be told why though !
