hi all just got my fttc installed, well what can i say its fast, i had a predicted speed of 14.3mbps,, the engineer said i synced at 34, my actual dl speed via newsgroups is 4.19Mbps, 8.8gig file in 30 mins, which is a whopping amount faster than what im used to.
ok so some people think that bt option 3 with fibre is limited to 15mb, i can currently say this is not true, it does look however that i am only getting 1.6 upload so not the 10 that you get on infinity,
i did want the stats from the engineer ( line lenght ) but he didnt have them, all in all a happy bunny.

Sounds great.
If you run a BT speed test you at least get to see the IP Profile .

i tried a bt speed test, it asks for the phone number before running the test, i put that in and it says an error occurred have you typed the correct number, which i have so dunno why that wont work.

I think this happens quite often. It can take a day or so for it to start to work .
You did choose the FTTC option, not FTTP?

yep i did m8, tried it again and it worked this time, 36449 sync, not bad for an estimate of 14.3.

Pretty good.
I assume you mean that's the IP Profile though? (Configured throughput).

Yes, it wouldn't work for me on the first day either.

Slower upload speed on the cheaper infinity packages.

yeah thats the sync speed, actual dl speed is 4.19MB/s

yeah thats the sync speed, actual dl speed is 4.19MB/s I don't believe it is the sync. Please copy/paste where it says that.
I believe it is the IP Profile. IP Profile does not = sync. For example, many people are sync'ed at 39700-40000Mbps, and their IP Profile is 38717, the highest there is.

the 4.19 isnt the sync speed, i stated earlier the sync speed is 36464 or there abouts.

He's saying he doesn't think the 36464 (or the original 36449) is your sync speed. He thinks (and I agree) that the number is much more likely to be your IP profile - simply because almost no-one knows their actual sync speed on fibre, as it's impossible to get hold of on the equipment that BT supply.
If the number you are quoting comes from the test report of the BT Speedtester, then it is your IP Profile speed, not your sync speed.

yeah that is the number from the bt tester gave, sync speed/ ip profile it dosent really matter that much i dont think, im just over the moon with the speed im getting.

You're right in two senses - that it doesn't matter as much as it did on ADSL - where the difference could be as much as 20% - and that the actual speed experienced is brilliant.
For what it is worth, I reckon your sync speed is probably around 38Mbps. I wouldn't turn my nose up at that!
