Re: Moving to FTTC, Which Router?

[re: Cruncher] [link to this post]

BT would probably have been a better option, yes. I don't really understand the point of a FTTC package with a low usage limit, surely the whole idea of a 40meg connection is to download massive files quickly?

I've done 200GB+ so far this month at peak times on BT Infinity. I get full speed 24/7.

What the hell ADSD24!?

Its Saturday - The weekend. Weekend according to ADSL24's website is off peak.

Yet whatever i do today it is counted towards my limit. I just downloaded a couple of games via Steam as its 'off peak' and wont count to my limit..

Next thing i know i get an email saying i am about to hit my limit.... Now i have 1gb to last me the rest of the month.....

Just spoke to customer service. Clearly doesn't have a clue. He said call back on Monday!

Sorry but i wish i'd gone with BT now..... frown

No you don't. I recently had probs with the and because BT messed up on several visits, one of directors lent me his modem. BT - don't make me laugh. On quick phone call to ADSL24 and it will all be sorted quickly - just relax, you are in good hands.

What? From ADSL24?

Ok, little update, seems that none of my off peak usage is being counted as off peak. Not after midnight or weekends.... frown

How's the router holding up?
I am thinking between the WNDR3700 and AirPort Extreme. Have used the Netgear twice, it's a bit iffy sometimes.

Yes Cruncher ADSL24.

Had a WNDR3700, the US support said take it back and get the 3400 model after 38 mins.
They are big as well but with a nice easy interface.

Still running the Dlink DIR855 quadband.

So far i'm very happy with it to be honest. Its rock solid runs cool, is fart etc. I do like my Netgears though.

I did look at the AE, and very nearly ordered one.....

Let me know what you tink if you go for the AE. smile

Decided to go with this Linksys E4200 which has a 3x3 antenna as I wasn't too impressed with my WNDR3700 wireless.
