Hi,
Just out of interest how far from the cabinet would I need to need from the cabinet for my speed to drop to 32mb?
I had infinity installed 2 weeks ago, the wired lan cable speed test was around 32/33mb and 8-9 upload. I can actually see the green box, it is not more than 80m from my house. Is this a standard speed drop?
I am not complaining as I was on 2.5d / 0.9u with O2 before just wondering as others are 600m plus and they are getting 38-40mb.

How are you doing that speedtest & which ISP are you with. If you do the BT speedtest what does it say your IP profile is?
If your connection is syncing at 32-33Mbps (hard to get this info - the closest guide is the IP profile) then are you sure that's the cabinet you're connected to? For 32Mb/s you would probably need to be at least 700m - I'm 520m from my cabinet in a straight line and probably 6-700m for the cable run (forgot to ask the engineer if he had a length estimate but the attenuation was 19dB) and I get 40/10.
Wiring quality almost certainly plays a part but at 80m it would have to be pretty grotty to be down at 32Mb/s

I am with BT Infinity, I did use their speed tested and I am pretty sure it was 40/10 but I will re-test and post here.

Remember the 100m or so of the copper link to the fibre may not be the cause of the variations in speed.
Giving people very close to 0.5Meg a lot of the time is very easy, but hitting 40Meg most of the time for the same price or less if you compare to older pricing is a lot harder.

Hi,
Are you sure you are connected to the box you can see? I am not connected to my closest box, I am connected to my second closest.

My cab is 60Meters away as the crow flies, 300Meters by road and the engineers JDSU estimate was 300Meters.
Your cab maybe close but your line could be a lot longer.

I wonder if it is even a BT PCP? Maybe a VM one?

I am about 800m from the cabinet. BT Estimate was 14.3Mbps. My IP Profile is over 35000Kbps. So very happy. Upstream is capped at 2000Kbps.

Hi,
Yes that is the box because the engineer went to the box as there was no dial tone after setup.
