Anyone got information on this?
I had infinity installed Today, 37M/bs, though have tried to run a download through BitLord and the download speed is 12kb/s. I would normally get around 200kb/s on my previous 2 meg connection.
It's not a question of peers either, as the file is being hosted by work.
Anyone know if they filter P2P downloads?

Torrents are throttled during peak times. It seems the throttle failed to lift last night though so they were throttled throughout the night aswell.
Typical, the one time in ages I needed a file and it's broken.

Thanks for the reply. I read in the term they are throtled between 4pm and midnight, so as it's 11am it should be fine shouldn't it. Is this a one off then?
Is there a way round it, say maybe by using a different port?

I expect that they are using packet inspection, and as such changing the port will not make any difference. Have you tried turning encryption on (if supported by your client)??

No way around it, although some have used vpn's to get around it i don't knwo how that works.
I tried it at 1PM today and it was running at full speed, so maybe after midnight tonight you'll see full speed again.
I think if you hammer torrents all the time you'll get throttled more, otherwise if your a light user it's possible to get full speed during the day.

Download the software. Click on connect and all the traffic from your PC is encrypted although it may look like you are located in Sweden, USA etc 
This can be useful if you want to access services that are only available from certain countries.
Won't help if your ISP throttles Vpn traffic though (e.g. I think plusnet)

if your using the bt home hub there is a blocker for p2p on there you have to go on to the router settings and change it. its under vpn settings i think. thanks thomas

Anyone have any experience with this port clamping? (Or could explain better what it means?)
I set it to yes, to see i it would change my p2p speeds, but still only get around 30kb/s !!!

i downloaded a 4gb Ubuntu disc yesterday on option 3 started it at 6pm was coming down at 7kbs until 12 am when is shot up to 700kbs i use utorrent try that client instead orr just us newsgroups lol

I can't explain what port clamping is, but I can tell you it won't circumvent bt's p2p throttleing. They would be pretty stupid to provide an option in their own router to do that!
30 Kbps is quite good for peak time! you should get full speed off peak without enableing port clamping. Although lately that hasn't always been the case with restrictions still being impossed off peak. It has nothing to do with the port clamping option though.
Hopefully the recent planned downtime for "maintenance and upgrades" that is happening around the country will stop the packet loss, slow downs and accessive throttleing.

To date I've not seen any problems with p2p D/L's, in fact it just took me 6mins to D/L a 1.38GB file, The fastest I've had was 3mins 50secs to D/L a 1.30 file. I've not touched any of the settings in my HH3.
