The placing off my existing BT cab is about 10 metres from my house though being estimated at 35mb...
There is now a Fibre cabinet about 300 metres from my house and there is no normal cabinet near.
My neighbour has seen a OR engineer on our estate at the old cab and then walking off the estate to the Fibre cab.....
Could this be my new cab? Does it have to be next to existing cab?
Thanks

The 35Mbps estimate sounds about right for the 300Metres. I thought the maximum distance between the fibre and PCP was about 50metres, so are you sure the 10m one is a BT cabinet? What sort of number is there on it?
It's irrelevant anyway. It's just a question of when that FTTC one goes live. What date does the estimator give you?

300 metres is too far. Its either an FTTC cabinet connected to another cabinet you are not aware of, or more likely nothing to do with FTTC

The new cab is 100% FTTC. My cab 10 metres away is definitelty BT.
I was done as March, then June, now December
Actually all postcodes around my area are December inclusing any right next to the new Fibre cab,

It's 250metres by the road on google maps.
Have an image though can't post here.

my estimate was 32mb and 7.5mb, I'm 350 meters from the cab.

does your old cabinet have a number stencilled on it,
something like:
pcp xx, or scp yy
(I dont need the number, but the prefix may explain things)
|
|
|
Put the images on both cabinets on Photobucket (or similar) and post links here.

Up to 50m is the typical maximum distance between copper and fibre cabinets. Slightly longer maybe be permitted, but 250m is too far

On the cab is UXB......i think though will check when i get home...
Will take pics tonight of the old cab though the other one is 100% fibre...
Tall green and brand spanking....
Have to wait and see I suppose.

I don't know what the letters mean, I've only ever seen numbers, but I wonder if it is one of the S(econdary)CPs. They don't get the fibre cabinet - only the PCP does.

Estate is Oakside.....
Could tak pictures this weekend as was away though now noticed another cabinet at the end of our road...over the other side...so 60-70 metres away.
Some upgrades at the exchnage this week as well as had some issues with my norm connection. Told it will take 7-10 days to settle.
Old cab definitely has UXB and then some numbers....no 000/0 just numbers

Well, my date has changed again this morning from 1st December to 30th September.....going the right way...shame the first two dates were wrong.

On the leaked FTTC spreadsheet there are 2088 PCPs listed numbered above 100. For example, Basingstoke has around 100 BT PCPs with numbers all the way up to 205.
There is only one numbered above 1000: PCP 1001 in Trafford.

Indeed, my mother is on PCP160 of WWEXTR, and my old cab was 98 and 98/1. Several cabs on WWEXTR have sub connection points so I don't see it inpossible for there to be some in the format XXX/X
Meh.
EDIT: Trafford goes up to PCP 1001? But there are only ~8000 lines on that exchange... what average 8 lines per cab? Bizzaire.

Nothing wrong with the format; Zarjaz already explained that. All I'm trying to do is point out that the (low)numbering system makes it fairly easy to distinguish a BT PCP or SCP from a VM cabinet, which seem to be rather long numbers. So the poster I replied to on this bit can check.

Thinkk these sort of cab numbering anomalies happen when an exchange building closes and the cabs are re-assinged to another exchange. PCP 10 may become PCP 100 for example
|
|
|
Cabinets that have been uplifted sometimes change their number, ie PCP1 Caversham, now numbered 101, PCP 1 no longer exists.

Sorry about the delay though been busy at work and also in bed with man flu.
The cabinet on my estate is marked with UXBEB 121
Does this make sense? Any one with info on this cabinet?
Thanks

No, it means all lines on it will be connected. Unless they change their mind or meet a problem. It's Phase 5a, whenever that is.
I have a page with some cabinet pics now.

No idea....the cab on our estate is UXBEB 121, so I take it it's not that one.
Will have a wander around and have a look for one marked 23.

This might be it: possible PCP23
looks a bit tatty - BT have just started re-shelling some of these old GPO cabinets round my way, I hope in preparation for FTTC...

Well 2.67 for me would mean the full 40mb. Current speed is 16mb.

16.36 for me would work out to something approaching 75Mbps (not bad for a product capped to 40Mbps) - I've been saying for a while that BT had massively over-estimated the length of lines served by our cabinet (leading to all sorts of problems - the inability to order 2Mbps fixed speed products, refusal by LLU companies, etc.). Now we have proof!

Do you live around the Cowley area? I have friends in Cowley who are still waiting for their cabinets to "go live", and the cabinets (Huawei 288 bigguns) have been sitting there for months. Overall, Uxbridge seems to have excellent coverage. All the way from Hillingdon Circus to Uxbridge road, Vine lane and the town center appear to be well covered by cabinets... But there are some areas that appear to have been neglected, and Uxbridge still only has FTTC "available in some areas". Your PCP might not have any numbers on it - mine didn't.
I'm over in Northolt and there's a massive push to get cabinets installed and hooked up by the end of July from what I can tell. 8 cabinets have been installed this month, and there are roadworks all over the exchange coverage area for the next 2 weeks. My cabinet has only just had the power and fibre connected, and they are filling in the trenches today. Snapped this yesterday:

No the New Denham end near the drive through McDonalds.
The PCP is the link above that someone put up has been changed to the a new PCP and next to it is a Fibre Cab,
The one outside McDonalds on the same road which is opposite my road has also a new Fibre Cab next to it.
The cab next to mine looks battered and nothing seems to be changing. It;s marked UXBEB121 so no idea what this is. Is it a SCP?

That seems quite common - ours has been saying that for months. We are not listed to get it until early 2012, so no sign of any cabs or preparatory work yet
