I'm on Colindale exchange which went RFS in the last month.
Up until earlier this week, my phone number was yielding a date for FTTC (complete with speed estimate) of 30 September; this had slipped from 30 June.
Now, no date is given!
Does this really mean I'm not going to get FTTC in the forseeable future?
I've tried two other Colindale numbers and they are not showing any FTTC availability either...

Just to add to the confusion, if I do a postcode only check I get this:
Our test also indicates that your line currently supports a fibre technology with an estimated WBC FTTC Broadband where consumers have received downstream line speed between 30.1 to 32.7 Mbps and upstream line speed between 7 to 7.8 Mbps.
The actual stable line speed supportable will be determined during the first 10 days of use. This speed may change over time, to ensure line stability is maintained.

Please note that postcode and address check results are indicative only. Most accurate results can be obtained from a telephone number check.

The whole thing's a mess.
If I use my tel number I get no result (as on Sky so fair enough).
If I put in my house no and postcode, it's ADSL options only.
If I just put my postcode in, it says "our test also indicates that your line currently supports a fibre technology with an estimated wbc fttc broadband where consumers have received downstream line speed of 24.9 mbps and upstream line speed of 5.5 mbps"
It's all a bl**dy shambles.

This often happens when it is imminent, but don't get your hopes up too much. Does the FTTC cabinet have the cooling running? You can hear it through the vents.

I don't know where the cabinet is. Lots of cable cabs everywhere, not sure where BT's is.

Is it possible that, say, 95% of your postcode can get the fibre service, but the other 5% can't, because it isn't served by a fibre cabinet? It does sound like it from what you describe.
e.g. that's why the checker wants a telephone number to be sure which cabinet it's connected to.
Quite a few people on here have a document which shows the post code > cab relationships and could verify that.
To be fair, cable is not dissimilar - a given postcode can have the service but one street at that postcode cannot (planning permission, wayleave issues, etc meant that street was skipped) - so in both cases a specific address or phone number is needed to be sure.
And when you put your full address in, computer says no.
That said, the wholesale checker doesn't have a great reputation for being accurate or up to date.

What speed on the check did it say you could get? 500Kbps down and 100Kbps upload by any chance?

My test says,

I'm about 400 metres from Cabinet 3. However, BT's spreadsheet says that I'm served by cabinet 4 - which I have no idea where it is.
100% of postcode will be covered according to the spreadsheet. However, no evidence of new cabs or mods going in, so although Colindale might be RFS no evidence on the ground of work here...

The cabinet I am likley to be connected to near my home does have cooling - I had a listen up against the grill vents on the way back from the pub!
The BT wholesale checker has a date of 30th Sept but it was 30th June until recently. The Openreach site still says June '11 (for the exchange) when that list was updated recently.
The fact that it has cooling..... is that a pretty good sign that the service may go live sooner rather than later??

Just had a play with the Broadband Checker and I have a similar situation.
The FTTC CAB has appeared about four weeks ago, much digging of trenches, Open Reach man was there this morning with a manhole up and playing in the "real" CAB.
There is only one CAB for the estate, planned (according to the spreadsheet) to give 100% coverage.
samknows says that the exchange is enabled which I believe is correct - RFS date was June.
If I put my telephone number in there is no mention of FTTC or any fibre services.
If I put my post code in I get "Our test also indicates that your line currently supports a fibre technology with an estimated WBC FTTC Broadband ".
Since the CAB is clearly not yet enabled and it covers the whole postcode area, the BroadBand checker is clearly severely broken when it comes to CAB v Post Code mapping!

Since the CAB is clearly not yet enabled and it covers the whole postcode area, the BroadBand checker is clearly severely broken when it comes to CAB v Post Code mapping! I doubt if it is broken re the mapping? What often, (always?), happens when work is actually being done is that it disappears from the BTW phone number checker. I expect it is something to do with how the job-booking-out system works.

A smaller 128 line FTTC cabinet has appeared now about 10 metres from cabinet 3. There's evidence of power having been connected (cabinet making humming noise consistent with fans running and there's a reinstatement in the carriageway consistent with a power line having been installed.)
Still nothing re FTTC on the broadband checker.
And I still don't know where cabinet 4 is...

And now late October and still nothing! BT DSL checker doesn't show me having FTTC while the postcode checker does!
The green cabinets are still there, though doing nowt
How do I find out what the problem is?

I now have the checker telling me I can get FTTC. Have ordered an upgrade from AAISP. I wonder if this changed on 1 December?

Openreach website changed a day or so ago, so probably has been a checker update also
