I've created a Photobucket album of the Fibre demployment around Exeter so if anyone's interested on progress and type of kit etc, have a look:
Also if you have any of your own, why not link them in this thread?

N pics (yet), but thought I'd say the pole connecting the end of Salters Road and Lisa Close in Heavitree has the black & yellow striped fibre running to the top, connected to a new box. The work was done about a month ago.

That'll be FTTP then 110MB doth Heavitree way come

Great pics - thanks for the confirmation on the small box is the 128line version of the FTTC cab. I've seen one of the large boxes about a mile from me, and some small boxes the other end of the estate. Sadly still waiting for my cab to be FTTC'd.
Those who get FTTP are lucky so-and-so's
James - be* pro - on THFB - sync about 17.2mbps - BQM

That pole serves my house and the infamous spreadsheet says 5a FTTP rollout to my postcode. Just waiting to hear back from the Chairman's office as to when a senior engineer says it's going to happen.
I'll see if I can get some pics sorted tomorrow.

Superb. Good luck with getting FTTP sorted. I get the keys to my new flat on the 18th which is also on the FTTP rollout as opposed to FTTC but I'm not in too much of a rush as I'm having Virgin installed anyway.
I think most parts of Exeter go live on 30th September. There's allegedly an 0800 number you can call to get BT Retail's FTTP Trial but I don't know the whole number

Here's a collection of images from the newly upgraded pole serving my house.
The pole is *BELIEVED* to be an FTTP pole.
LMK what you think if you will?

I think the black and yellow tube is the fibre tubing and the rest is the existing copper line plant
|

Yep, that'd be it. Strange capping on the top of it, but as you say, all the rest is copper stuff. I presume the new 4 box will be to house the fibre node ?

Is the "new 4 box" the one on the pole with fibre (where the box is long and thin, with external ribbing), or on the other pole (more square, with smooth external walls)?
Here's a story on TBB about the fibre install. There's a link to pictures of a fibre manifold, and one can also be seen in the manhole chamber.
The manifold at the top of the pole looks identical to the one in the chamber.

A '4 box', is a JF4 (Joint Footway), the box shown in the pavement.

I'm tempted to open it and have a look...

Trust me, you'll find it wasn't worth the bother.
Oh, and of course if you get spotted, someone will think you are a 'do-as-you-likey' trying the thieve copper, and you'll get nicked.
