Also... the NTL/Virgin cabinets here in N.Ireland don't look anything like the ones pictured. They are all a dark green very similar to BT's PCP...

What is their number formatting?

Yeh no markings at all on them, they are old CableTel cabinets.

Wonderful.

So BT have a 2,3 or occasional 4-digit number that may have worn off; washed off or been vandalised off, Nynex have about a 9-digit number, and CableTel have nothing and look like a BT one.

Super.

Easy enough to work it out though, as the manhole covers infront will display CableTel or NTL on them.

But they do look very similar to the new PCP cabinets BT have been replacing the old rusty ones with

Well i believe CableTel went bust during the installation here in Derry, so 95% of the man-hole covers mention CableTel, anything that was after this or anything that has been replaced mentions NTL on it.

NTL is CableTel smile

CableTel (HQ was in guildford) bought National Transcommunications Ltd (a TV transmitter business) and renamed the company after the initials NTL. Then it went on a buying spree and bought most of the competitors. Eventually merging with Telewest.

Then it wanted to buy VirginMobile - so it sold off the National Transcommunications business as it wasn't cable or telephone (more corporate) and that is what we now know as Arqiva.

Then after buying Virgin Mobile, the NTL:telewest group renamed themselves Virgin Media. (I've seen the history lesson in VM's HQ building!).

Manhole covers and similar here all have "CATV" written on them.

Hi RobertoS, would you like a SCP pic to go with everything else? Our fibre cabs are coming in the next few weeks so if there's anything different I can send you those too.

And another, not on your page or any I've seen before. Definitely a BT cab though...

The street furniture is a great addition, could it possibly be expanded to cover ducts as well?
