Whereas the likes of ADSL24 resell Entanet

ADSL24, unless things have changed recently, have not used Entanet for quite some time.

but surly being so close to the cab it should be full speed

Google says 0.3 miles (482 metres), so you're a fair way from the cabinet (you might think it's "close", but vDSL only works at very high speeds over short distances).
On a similar scale (my house to my cabinet), if I lived in the same town, I'd be about where it says "Hill Brow Surgery" (possibly closer) and the checker says 33Mbps for me (although at less than half the distance as you, I'll be much more likely to get full speed).

In any case, BT's figures are often very conservative, so you may well get 40Mbps (or close to it), but I don't know how much of the speed boost (up to 80Mbps on very short lines) will be available to you when BT switch profiles.

right thanks for the info its strange i figured out how to switch it into meter mode on google maps this morning and it comes up at 400M dont suppose it makes much of a diff though lol TBH going back to VM is looking more and more appealing every day lol especial thanks to them having tivo sense i left them

Either way; it seems there's no real reason why (at less than 500m) you shouldn't get full speed from the 40/10 product.
Only time will tell us if that sort of distance will give much more when BT release the brakes.

Just for clarity; are you reselling anyone else's FTTC product, or is it all of your own making (i.e. BT until they hand over to your network)?

Thanks ever so much for all the help in deciding i had a phone call from virgin media this morning.
Because i was a customer before switching to sky they ring me every so off to see if ill go back to them.

They told me if id be willing to reactivate my old account after my contract with sky is up they'll give me free installation + fitting and a free 1TB tivo box + w/e offers they have on at the time EG half price for 6 months or something along lines and told me to just tell them my old account number while ordering to get the offer (account notes or something).

So im going to take them up on the offer next feb and go back to virgin 50meg and switch my tv from sky to TIVO i think i can put up with going from 50HD channels to 19 for the sake of TIVO.
There's actually only 1 channel i can get on sky HD that i cant get on VM and that's nick HD the other 19 are all the ones i actually watch on sky so all good.

Thanks Again for all the help
