Re: Does FTTH need ducting to the house?

Someone posted pics a couple of months ago purporting to be their FTTH coming in from a pole. I didn't bookmark it frown.

We had some people asking to get onto the service, but BT rejected their address stating that they had no fibre running down their street but their line was fed from a pole that was in the path of the fibre run, although that could have changed, I just can't see them running fibre up the poles.

Well http://staging.trefor.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/07... shows poles being used. From that I would infer that the fibre still goes to somewhere high up the fall, and is then fed down the wall to the termination box. This is only a schematic, so may be not to too acurate, but it seems a messy way of doing it.

My pleasure! Fortunately I did bookmark it - and, of course, there's an equivalent one for FTTC.

Thanks Nicola. Those are the ones I thought Bob was talking about, but I hadn't bookmarked.

>>if the box is just above ground and the fibre is being supplied from a pole... doesn't make much sense to my dim brain!

All will become clear when you try to take your fibre jointing kit up a ladder. smile

Fair enough, but don't you then have the problem of bending the fibre where it joins the wall and then having to fix it securely but gently as it descends down the wall?
