Now it's possible to get into the modem, does this mean we can tweak the SNR margins like we could on ADSL?

And we wonder why BT have arranged for the Huawei to be disabled by default wink

guys, sorry to hijack this thread slightly,

But, i have been running a Vigor 2750n for quite some time (Got it working back in March http://forums.thinkbroadband.com/fibre/t/3976302-re-... )

Anyway, i have been having some issues with disconnects since Infinity was installed in March, and last week my whole connection and telephone line went dead!

Raised this with BT, and they came and fixed it yesterday, said there were multiple issues with the line outside the house etc.

So, i checked my stats, and saw i was only connected at 13mb (had about 34mb before) or something like that, and thought i would leave it for a day to see if it needed to work its self out. But today its at 11mb now, so its going down!

Can someone look over my stats, and see what they think... i recon an Upstream SNR 300 and a Downstream SNR of 200db ish is surly a problem??

In reply to a post by Adsl24:
You could try the usual broadcom SNR trick, with the new xdslcmd tool:

*USE WITH CAUTION*

xdslcmd configure --snr XX

XX being the percent of SNR to reduce by. E.g. XX = 50 means reduce the current target SNR by 50%. So if it was 6dB it would go to 3dB.

I confirm this works on my ADSL2+ line on the unlocked modem, can't test on a VDSL2 line yet.

Let me know.

I tried this today after the line synced my snr was showing 257.4 for a few seconds then went to 6, so Im not sure if it worked. But my line rate went up to 28686 from 27134 but my ip profile is stuck at 26.249. Can the ip profile go up on it's own over time?

Yes the IP profile is directly linked with the SYNC speed so it will go up shortly. Its much faster at updating itself (on FTTC using Openreach's DLM) as opposed to BT Wholesales DLM.

Have left the modem alone for a few days since flashing the new firmware. Here is a screenshot of the stats:

your upload speed is same as mine 9995, seen others with 9999.. strange?

Good stats, mine has been in sync for 3 days now with no crc errors at all like yours.

Theres something very odd with my stats, its going down, 9995mb download now, altho it looks like my attainable rate is 25mb.

Vigor Stats

Links a bit easier to read than the pasting of text!

Any ideas anyone?

If you look again the reported SNR is displayed as a unit of 0.1dB, therefore it's not 310dB / 218dB but 31 and 21.8 respectively. Still too high though, looks like you are on a capped SYNC speed profile at the DSLAM.
