Hi All,
I'm connected to the Ashton-on-Ribble (LCAOR) exchange and FTTC cabs have been appearing all over the place since the first half of June. My particular cab has been installed and powered for just over 2 months but I know that BT have had lots of problems with blocked ducts.
The various checkers state end of Sept for my cabinet so I've tried other numbers from various locations around town and they all say end Sept. Is there any way to find out if the exchange itself is now holding everyone up and that's why no cabs seem to be live?
The last update to the Openreach documents seems to have removed my exchange completely. It is no longer shown in the accepting orders, coming soon or future exchange categories!
Thanks!

The exchange won't likely be holding the rollout up. Very little work is done at the exchange to support FTTC. It's all down to waiting for each cabinet to be installed, connected to the Fibre and power cables. I have heard that some areas which are on the new ECI cabs are still being tested with this new vendor so it takes a little longer before they open it up to the public.
PM me your postcode, and I'll see what I can find out.

Easy.
Disconect the phone wires and touch them with you tongue.
If you get a shock, the exchange is LIVE !

(It's only 50V, it won't kill you) It's not volts that matter, 1 or 2V applied correctly can kill - it's current that really counts.

Volts have the potential to kill you!

I have no resistance and so can easily be killed by 50V.

This is the most stupid post I have seen...
Some idiot will likely try it.
It's not the Volts, it's the current that kills- 30mA is enough to dispatch most people, that's why RCD's are set at that trip-level.
