Faber Optic Speed to be doubled

I am sure I read on here that BT were/are planning to double the speed of of Fibre Optic services. Can anybody point me in the right direction or comment as to if this is true or not.

That should do nicely for my Media Portal set up over VPN, means my sister can watch live tv at uni.
