I am also curious about this, especially as I live in St Austell, which is one of the 6 areas due to go live at the end of the month.
About 6 Months ago, there was a lot of activity installing new (bigger) cabinets, adjacent to the old ones, and big blue pipes being stuffed down the road, but as we speak I am pretty sure that my cabinet is just sitting empty, with piping their for power and connection to the old cabinet. I walk past it every day whilst walking the dog. and can't for the life of me work out the path the existing cables go (it looks like out of the cabinet, up a pole, along poles for 200 yards the back into the ground about 50 yards from my back garden) but how it then gets to me is a bit of a mystery. Our house is part of a small estate built in 2003, and 5 minutes walk from the exchange.
I any one could answer
1) Will FTTP be available on request, or will it be up to BT to decide on FTTP /FTTC as a product.
2) Do I have to go for BT for FTTP - or is its just safer, or is it safer to go for someone else.
3) Is much internal work required. Can they move the master socket.
4) What is the likeley cost of FTTP v FTTC v anything else (currently on LLU with XILO)
Then I would be gratefull
Cheers
