Nah, as ever it's going to take more than one brief outage for that to happen.

I've got a question. I've got a replacement modem appointment for this week. However, I flashed the modem firmware a few weeks back to see all the stats. Would that matter at all?

Hi all,
Found this thread while engineer completed BT modem swap. I was told that they were replacing all modems as they had faulty components and were overheating. Being the cynic I am, I suspected conspiratorial bugging of decent people's houses etc.... (well, ya never know!) So far, no improvement / deterioration in broadband speed. Pretty much same as before. Will wait to hear if other family members report anything.
BTW- it took 2 mins to replace.

It's not being done to improve speeds, it's being done for 'FVR' fault volume reduction. Save Openreach many thousands in engineering repair visits.

Only mentioned speeds because engineer said that some customers reported increase in broadband speed.
so far nothing has changed for us. My son did mention that our internet would disconnect during the night every now and again with the old modem.

I would do an electronic sweep of the premises just to make sure.
