Copper telephony comes into original cabinet and distributed to houses - normally. For FTTC the incoming copper pair is rerouted out, across a tie pair to the FTTC cabinet where it is multiplexed with the VDSL signal extracted from the fibre link to that cabinet. The cable then returns to the normal cabinet on another tie pair which is then connected to copper pair feeding the customer premises.
