Line Rental + FTTC

Perhaps an obvious question, but do you have to have BT Retail Line Rental to use FTTC (from any provider)?

It seems like it would be much better value to get (say) Primus Home Saver line rental and then pick an FTTC company as required, instead of being saddled with BT for the whole package.

Anyone know?

Any WLR ( non-LLU ) phone line will work. Popular around the office here is Post Office Home Phone with IDnet or AAISP FTTC.

Primus would work fine.

The one you cannot have without BT Line Rental is BT itself, either Infinity or the slower one whatever it is now called - it used to be Option 3 with Fibre, but I don't think Option 3 is called that anymore.

TalkTalk FTTC does of course require TalkTalk line rental.
