Hi,
Is there a way to find out if a certain cabinet is due to be enabled? Our office at SO23 8BN is on an FTTC enabled exchange, but they seem to have missed out our cabinet (possibly due to limited pavement space near the existing cabinet).
Thanks,
Nick

Hi there you're exchange Winchester, you're office is on cabinet 75, cabs 72 to 78 have no dates planned at current.
STWINCH WINCHESTER SO238BN {STWINCH}{P75} 0 100%
You're cab is not planned at current so its a case of wait and see, space next to a existing cabinet is not a problem as the Fibre twin can be a distance away where there is suitable space.

Thanks. I think as we're only 500 metres from the exchange that perhaps upgrading our cab is not a priority, but the extra speed would be useful to us as we've got an office full of website developers.

Register (or login) on our website and you will not see this ad.

Why don't you guys get a bonded solution?
|

|
|
Because it's a hell of a lot of extra money to get a connection which is "only" twice as fast.
FTTC would give us 5 times the upload speed which is what we really need at the mo, and potentially for almost no extra cash.

Well you can register interest with BT openreach, have you registered you're interest with Hampshire CC superfast broadband plan, as their coverage plans should cover all of Winchester pcp's if BT win the tenders.

I've been completely unsuirprised to find that none of our sites on business parks are getting FTTC, despite the PCPs serving neigbouring areas being enabled.
The cynic in me screams "leased line revenue retention"

|
I think its often even simpler than that - many cabinets serving business parks have relatively few lines so it doesn't cost in compared to the much larger numbers of lines in residential areas.

Any chance someone could check the status of my cabinet for me?
Postcode is SP102AA
thanks!

STANDVR ANDOVER SP102AA {STANDVR}{P10} 0 9% 2.74 4a Yes FTTC
STANDVR ANDOVER SP102AA {STANDVR}{P13} 0 19% 3.31 4a Yes FTTC
STANDVR ANDOVER SP102AA {STANDVR}{P2} 0 71%
Basically you're postcode is served by 3 different cabs, of which 9% are served by cab 10 and that is enabled for for FTTC.
19% of the post code is served by cab 13 and has FTTC, the majoirty of lines are on cab 2 which has 71% of the lines, there is no date at current for this cab.
Phase 4a was done a while ago and if you cannot get FTTC now, you are likely on cab 2, it may be upraded in future, its a case of wait and see.
Have you tried the BT wholesale checker as that will tell you for definete with a BT number if you can get a FTTC service atm.

Thanks for the extremely informative response!!
Yes, I checked in the wholesale checker, and unfortunately it makes no mention of fibre for my phone number. So, I am sure you're right, I'm on the unlucky cab
Thanks again for the great info though.

Just have to wait and see if BT come back and upgrade the cab, do register on hampshires CC superfsat broadband site as you're cab will likely be upgraded to meet the 2015 target.

I got my hopes up last week as BT dug up the road outside our cabinet and appeared to lay a cable across the road, but so far there's no sign of a new green cabinet
ccxo - I don't suppose there's been any change to cab 75 on STWINCH (Winchester)?
Thanks!

Thats interesting, until the next spreadsheet is released i cannot say on any progress, best to watch for road works by BT near to you cab.

OK.. I'll just have to wait and see what happens. I think it might be a false alarm as the new trench from the green cab just seems to lead across the street to an office, so perhaps they simply ordered a new bundle of lines or something and it has nothing to do with FTTC.
