Interleaving on FTTC

Does anyone know if interleaving controls have been made available to ISP's and what increase in latency can be achieved via interleaving?

Do INP settings apply to FTTC services?

they cant alter any of it, its all automatic, which is a shame!

ive been on 3 levels so far, 14ms at start, then 24 then 34 , this is pinging the bbc site.

Seems to be on 24 now, the thing is , my line was fine when it was on 14.

this is a big negative if you ask me.

i wish mine would go up! MW3 is unplayable thanks to lag compensation

BTw FTTC manual states :-

"Dynamic Line management (DLM) to extend coverage and stability, giving more
control over the applications WBC FTTC Customers and Reseller Customers can sell
with tailored profiles such as Standard, Stable or Superstable"

so there is some influence over DLM settings.

My ISP told me last May they were expecting to get the option in the summer from BT/OR or whoever.

I just assumed it would have happened by now.

it's in the product manual, and it's on ordering screens for products. I can't testify to its effectiveness in practice.

Yup, we have had all those options since FTTC launched. IMHO they don't offer a great deal of support where needed (and no this is not an advert for Y-fronts...lol)

We still don't have Interleaving however, which IMHO is a required must.

Given the info we've seen about 21CN ADSL, those 3 options (Standard, Stable, Super-Stable) only affect the thresholds that DLM uses to decide when (or whether) to change up or down to a "better" or "worse" profile, and not what changes the new profile will choose to make... and it is the profile that determines whether you have any speed restrictions and/or any interleaving added.

For example, the good/bad MTBE thresholds were shown as 60 and 600 for "standard", 600 and 6,000 for stable, then 6,000 and 60,000 for super-stable.

While that was about ADSL, the DLM for FTTC is likely to work on similar principles (particularly as it has the same classifications for the setting).

For FTTC, the ISP doesn't have any controls to directly influence the use of interleaving, nor any way to force DLM to choose profiles differently (eg change speed rather than interleaving, or vice-versa).

None at all. It's a repeated question we ask our BT account manager, but without answers. I've asked of its availability so much that she comes with that question already answered
