Loads of vans buzzing around this week and lines being sprayed on the pavement up to our telegraph pole. Also engineer in our cabinet this morning. Could FTTC be coming?

Whats you're exchange (use samknows) and what is you're post code so it can be checked againt the december lists, will be able to tell you if FTTC is coming etc.

There was a Bt open reach van down by work this after noon, someone had his head in the cabinet and when i came home a van and man was by the one down the road and that was opened as well. but i don't think it is anything to do with fibre as that don't get started until end of June. they always seem to be mucking about with the cabinet down the road.

My cab is on the new list and our exchange was done in 2010. I'm hoping it won't be long now. Sam doesn't know either as it goes by the exchange not individual cabs. We have no dates on the bt wholesale checker or anywhere for that matter. Fingers crossed its finally happening.

Okay what phase was the cab on the December list and what is the name of exchange.
|
|
|
|
Phase 9b
Chippenham exchange.

Cabs, 4,9,10,11,19 and 44 are all in phase 9b which is quite alot to see after a exchange has been enabled.
Though looking at the whole of the exchange came online in phase 4a and then another round of cabs in phase 6a and now 9b certianly alot of inflling.
Of the cabs being enabled in phase 9b do you know which one it is (need to know the postcode for youre line) and where it is located?

Cab pcp10.
Yes a lot are on the list. I'm about 300-400 metres from the cab.

I'm puzzled by there being markings by telegraph poles. That would indicate FTTP but I see no mention of that on Chippenham.

Just have to keep an eye on the cab, once the fibre twin appears is a case of waiting for it all to be connected. Power usually is the longest wait, as its seperate contractors.

The markings on the pavement up to our telegraph pole are still there since last June.

However, I'm on FTTC since end September, so the markings were a red herring. A friend of mine, also on Hawarden exchange, also had BT ducts all marked up; however in his case this is because Dee Valley Water are anxious not to damage them as they renew water mains there.
Cheers!

Twin? I thought they replaced the old cabinet and put everything inside the new one? Oh dear there are going to be some very unhappy people around if they got two cabinets outside their houses. I can see there are going to be uproar in some places and what happens if the space is limited, do that mean no fibre?

Yes, a twin, but much larger generally.. It will be sited within 100 metres of the PCP, so where space is an issue it could be moved across the road, for example.

ifs its 9b it wont have even started yet

Oh dear I can see a few people not being happy with a big box stuck outside their house.

In reply to a post by Anonymous: ifs its 9b it wont have even started yet
Possibly, a local exchange near to me has been enabled but has a few more cabs planned under 9b will have a look to see the progress on them.
