80Mb/20Mb Trials - Improvements for sub-40Mb users???

I believe a couple of ISps intended to test some users on the 80Mb/20Mb trials who were previously unable to achieve 40Mb on the original service, just to see if any improvement at all was detected.

I THINK that ADSL24 was one of these ISPs.
My own ISP (Plusnet) chose to only trial users who were previously achieving around the 40Mb mark.
I have not yet seen any feedback from any such (lower speed) experiment.

If any of you fall into the above category, I would be most interested to see any relevant feedback.

My interest is that when FTTC was first installed, I achieved an actual throughput of 33Mb.
As I was unable to see my own connection's stats at that time, I can only assume that my sync speed MUST have been in the region of 35Mb.

Following a number of physical line problems & various engineers' visits, I am currently stuck at a sync speed of just below 30Mb (on a good day), with throughput of just below 28Mb.

My ISP is unable to confirm whether or not BT have capped my sync speeds (for whatever reason), but can confirm I currently have a BT connection profile of only:-
"16.2M-32.4M Downstream, Interleaving Low - 3.6M-7.2M Upstream, Interleaving Off"

I would like to know if entry onto the 80/20 trial triggers a sync speed recalculation/reset/improvement - I suspect not.

FWIW, quite often, my connection re-syncs with an attainable rate of around 35Mb and SNRM at 6dB.
However, it was back in July that it last actually synced higher than 30Mb.
Back then my BT connection profile was:-
"20M-40M Downstream, Interleaving LOW - 0.5M-2M Upstream, Interleaving Off"

If anything, the switch to the 17a profile back in October should have triggered an increase in DS sync speed at the expense of a slight loss of US speed as more tones were made available for DS at the lower frequencies.

I have asked to join the trial no reply yet tho! About 1000m from cabinet current profile 38717 geting downloads around 32-34meg. On the Plusnet high speed broadband option it says sync speed is 34meg I will let you know if they put me on the trial! It would be nice to get a better upload speed even if the download stays the same!

That's a lot better than my speed for possible slightly furthar away from than cabinet than I am.

It was awesome for me until today, when my speeds dropped by about 30Mb!

I had a big fat no because your estimate is only 22meg.....You would think they would look at your sync speed not your estimate!

Didn't you once report your speed estimate as 40Mb:-

One the one hand we are told that our estimates are just that - "estimates".
But when we query them, try to report a fault etc. the estimates suddenly become the be all & end all.

I don't suppose you have been able to monitor your "attainable Rates" for yourself over a period of time have you?

I know its frustrating! I haven't unlocked the modem...I dont quite understand how you do it. On 1000m I can't see it being much more than it is! On the other had my grandads is prob real good it must be about 25m to the cabinet.
