Is there always a cabinet?

Reason for asking: I can't find any nearby, and I live 805m (kitz) by road from the exchange.

Is it possible that the cabinet is effectively located at the exchange?

Nope it is possible that you could be on a EO cable direct from the exchange.

If you post or PM your postcode it may be possible to check whether any lines there are connected direct to the exchange.

Thank you ! I am on 17 for sure as 38 is a old style box, wish 38 was a new box as that is 400 meters away compared to 17 which is 940 meters !! but I should get hopefully 26 d and 5 up !

Thanks. Disappointing, but I'm not desperate for FTTP just yet. I get 18/19Mb/s download on ADSL and that is sufficient at the moment.

Do you/anyone have any idea on what basis BTW schedule later cabinets? Do they have a policy of eventually enabling all cabinets at an exchange, or is there a risk of some never being enabled?

Now my challenge for the weekend is to find my cabinet (I assume they are all above ground)

Its hard to say how BT choose to enable cabinets at a later date, though looking at the rollouts so far in my local area and elsewhere there do seem to be some common themes.

1) Residential is the main area for enablement
2) Town Centre cabs- not seen any enabled
3) Industrial estates do not get enabled

Ive seen new build esates have their cabs be planned for a later phase, will likely see all resdential cabs that are profitable enabled.

All cabs are above ground, generally to find a cab they are on the main roads, so wont be deep in a estate for instance.
