Looking for people's views and opinions before I take the plunge into the realms of fibre broadband

Basically fibre broadband became available on my line yesterday (w00t!).

Should I opt for the BT Infinity or hold out untill April for Sky FTTC.

Will the Sky FTTC move to 80meg like the BT is supposedly supposed to do?

What are your views?

I had the same dilemma but the deciding factor for me was the upload speed with BT is faster (I use a streaming TV device Broadway 2T so need good upload), so up to 10 meg compared to 2 meg, and I also use the BT WIFI / FON / OPENWORLD when out and about.

Sky may be cheaper but the above were the deciding factors for me, horses for courses I suppose.

Since Sky have not yet launched their product and their is talk from those trialing it that upload will be increased to 10 down. The 80/20 upgrade, their is no news yet what sky will be offering but it will likely be similar to the other main re-sellers of the product if they do offer it.

Thing you need to ask at current, is your current line speed good enough to wait for sky to launch or upgrade now to one of the isp's already selling the product to get a faster service.

You don't have to go for BT Infinity, there are any number of ISPs that can provide you with FTTC once it is enabled by Openreach.

There's TalkTalk, Plusnet and ADSL24 too just to name a few. TT have already announced their 80/20 product if that's important to you.
