FTTC Preparation?

I am due to have FTTC installed early next week. Do BT/OR do anything to prepare a line for FTTC? I ask because on Wednesday I downloaded a firmware update for my modem/router. When it powered up, it came back at roughly the settings that I have had for the past 6 months (16.6Mbps/1.08Mbps, SNR 4 and Ping 15). Yesterday morning, I noticed from my router log that there had been a re-synch and the box had powered back at 18Mbps/0.888Mbps, SNR 4, and Ping 31. It looks to be a very stable connection. I am just curious to know why this has happened. No other users are reporting ADSL2+ speed increases with the new firmware although AVM/Fritz say that they have re-designed the ADSL engine. Any thoughts?

No, Probably that you reconnected at a low noise time.

Probably the BT DLM has just lowered your sync-time margin to the recently available 3dB setting. A day-time re-sync now (only try it once) might gve you even more, and restore the upstream.

Thanks Robertos. A resynch resulted in the same speeds. I wasn't aware that BT had changed the downstream target SNR.

amusingly this has been available for a very long time, if not day 1. I got a few long lines working by having that profile used but I had to use a back door to effect the change.

Mine was at 3dB well over 2 years ago, if not 3.

Auto-set by the DLM?
