Bit concerned about this, the box next to PCP2 in Sheringham is open at the fibre optic end (I'm assuming that's what the tubes in the coloured substance are - see image)
Picture of the open part of the box
No OR vans/people around so I closed the door gently but it just swings open, went by the exchange to let them know but no answer, there was a note that protech are working inside so Im assuming they are working on the exchange to make it live (date date was 30th June now specified as 1st June on Samknows but not live as yet)
Since its impossible to contact openreach to tell them about the unprotected cabinet I will have to hope that nobody fancies having a poke around or stealing anything,
1. Am I right to assume that what is in the image suggests fibre is connected?
2. If a BTO person see's this post them may be worth putting in a call to someone on duty to get the box locked.

From the OpenReach site:
We want to know immediately if you think that any part of our network (outside the boundary of your property) has the potential to be a danger to the general public, if you notice that it has been damaged, or to report unsafe or messy Openreach worksites. We'd like you to call us on 0800 0232023 if you spot any of the following so we can attend to it quickly:
Damaged underground cables (typically caused by mechanical diggers in built-up areas)
Loose cables or cables dangling from telephone poles
Damaged green cabinets and/or open doors on them
Damaged telephone poles (e.g. poles leaning at awkward angles, or poles that have been completely smashed to the ground)
Loose, cracked or missing manhole covers

Thanks for the suggestion, a nice lady in India offered me a number that is disconnected 0800 0208 2023 and another number that sounds like the right one (external team) 0800 917 7381 but there is no one there till Monday (assuming Wednesday).
I'm thinking of putting two small strips of black tape to stop the door blowing in the wind and exposing the contents, I hope the Judge will understand when I say why I did it.

No problems; they've always been quite responsive, and grateful when I've had the need to contact them about an open cab in the past; just think of all the man-hours saved, if it was a PCP and some kids just sat there pulling all the cables out, just for fun!

In 16 years, out of all the 'green box open at' faults I have attended, only 1 was an Openreach/BT box, all the others have been comtel/Virgin cabinets.
The response for these is normally within 4 hours, if after 'normal' hours they will get an engineer out off the call out list, and very thankful the engineer will be too ! 3 hours minimum for a call out, just to shut a door/ring the reporting punter and let them know it wasn't one of ours !

But what box is the one the OP gave us a picture of? From the door hinging it doesn't look like a Huawei 288 or 128, nor an ECI 128. Or is it a side panel that is open?

its a small cab (either 128 or 96) and that picture is the SIDE of the cab, where the fibreoptic cable is terminated and you can also the see the 100 pair copper cable (thick grey/white cable) to the right. I don't think this goes in to the 3M box though but round the back into the main part of the cab.

Alan First time I got a good response. But last year I was unable to report one. At every avenue they insisted on having a postal code and I had no idea what the PC was. Even pointing out that school children were walking past didn't help.

Makes you wonder whether the Engineer "forgot" to shut the door, knowing he was on call over the weekend!
