how quick does the upstream rate drop on distance?

[link to this post]

Am I right that BT changed the profile so that the upstream now is weaker? so it drops of faster?

I get 11.5 upstream (and 31 down) at just under 1km from the cabinet.

Really?

I would love to see your pbParams data for comparison against mine.

I am also a little less than 1km from the cab & can only currently achieve 4Mb US throughput & 26.7Mb DS throughput.
At best, I have only ever achieved 5.5Mb US throughput.

Sorry, I don't have any parameters to share. I have an ECI modem connected to an ECI 128-line cabinet. The cable run is 100% underground from cabinet to house if that makes any difference.

Ah, that's a shame.

I was hoping to compare stats to see if I still have some sort of high resistance/attenuation problem.

Your upstream does look very good against only 31Mb downstream. What package are you on?

Mine is 40/10. I did trial 80/20 but it made no difference whatsoever.

Your stats and line params aren't a million miles away from mine.

BT engineer out a month or two ago to replace a dead OR modem (one of the original batch that finally died after near 2 years) and he said the line was fine. Just life.

Cheers orly,

Has your DS band plan changed recently & if so did it affect anything such as attenuation/sync speeds etc?

DS: (32,859) (1216,1963) (2792,3959)
i.e. 20 more tones available for DS (subject to having a low enough attenuation).
