EALOW now accepting orders for FTTC...

[link to this post]

But the wholesale availability checker says no...

Could there be a fault in the database that someone could be prodded to investigate?

EALOW NR32 4EP Cab 59

The cab is installed (power etc was done months ago), 100% of lines in the road are served by the installed cab..

In fact, I can't see any lines / post codes in Lowestoft which return a positive result...

Wait some more for the checker to update, or be a bit pro-active and chase it?

If you haven't found any line or postcode checker returning a positive, what makes you think the exchange is accepting orders?

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk
My domains, website and mail hosting - Tsohost. Internet connection - Plusnet Value Fibre.

When the exchange in my area went to "Accepting Orders" it was almost a month before I could even place an order.

accepting orders means the exchnage is live -- i would keep an eye on the checker as those cabs whcih are due to be deployed shuld be showing estimated speeds
exchnage can go live with only a small number of cabs live

My exchange went live at the end of 2010 - but the FTTC cabinet for my PCP has only arrived today.

Exchange being active means nothing unless you can see an FTTC cabinet by your PCP.

James - be* pro - 16.8 or 17.2mbps BQM
FTTC cabinet being built June 2012 (was due Mar 2011) at THFB PCP 5

I know this, I posted about the FTTC cab being installed several months ago, and I mentioned about the cab being installed in the first post...

Yep, I've been able to do that for months as well, but I wouldn't go near talk talk with a sizeable barge-pole..

Yes cab been there for months but I notice that some work is being done early July via the roadworks checker at that cab so possibly the last of the works.

The checkers are a load of cobblers

Talktalk have a long reputation in jumping the gun. They are taking orders in Carlisle as well. You wont get it a day earlier by pre-ordering with them.

Apparently they're having ducting issues in the town, so a lot of the enablements have been pushed back to the September/October placeholder frown

The biggest issue is that they can't get the fibre from the south of the town to the north due to the tunnel under the river being sealed off to stop a sewage leak..

Oh well.

Quick update - lots of activity on Elgin over the last week or so, much of the rollout in the north of the town is taking longer than expected due to collapsed ducts...

End of July seemed to cover several areas around Oulton Road and along Yarmouth Road, with more work being scheduled for mid-late August at the lower end of Hollingsworth Road - seems they're having install the fibre cab on the opposite side of the road to the PCP near St Margarets, so roadworks are involved, at a similar time there is more duct clearing at the junction of Hollingsworth and Oulton.

Once the ducts have been cleared, we should see the chaps with the tubes and fibre turn up again.

Progress!

Well, I have my answer..

Thank you for contacting Openreach about fibre broadband.

We are experiencing engineering difficulties with the provision of service at EA/LOW 59.

This is because there are blockages within the underground network and we have had to apply for special 3 way traffic management so that we cab excavate.

If all goes to plan and no other problems are encountered, we expect to bring the cab into service around the end of September.

Looks like they put everything in place including the power and tie cables, but the main fibre feed got stuck on the way through..

Ah well, at least I know it's coming smile
