Hacked FTTC Huawei Echolife HG612 two questions

[link to this post]

Hey guys have two questions

1) I have a 3B (in big bold text) model just want to make sure its not one of the ones that overheat?

2) I have hacked the software and now have the full software on there. I want to be able to access the admin pages but I need to do it via LAN 1 (as the modem and router are not next to each other and have a long single Ethernet cable to link them) I am hope there some way to create a virtual interface running of lan 1. I can then create a virtual interface running off WAN interface of the DD WRT router and should be able to access it. The I am open to any other suggestions.

Cheers

Damien

3B is current, so no problems there.

As the interface is only 100Mb it is possible to get Ethernet splitters/combiners. Two Ethernet connections in and then each uses just two pairs through your main cable - another splitter/combiner there and you have two over a single cable. Not the nicest solution, but will do what you need.

Example - search, there are plenty of others.

That's neat smile !

Edit - Ummmm?

Surely in this case a couple of F/F connectors are also needed?, to connect the splitter at each end to the main cable? (And of course 4 short cables).

My domains, website and mail hosting - Tsohost. Internet connection - Plusnet Value Fibre 80/20 trial.

They have been around for years and it is also possible, with care and when desperate, to use a set to provide POE.

Yes, for that one, if the user has a cable running between the locations. But if there are RJ45 sockets at each end, then it is fine.

Hacked mine this morning. No problems this time. Attainable rate is 79388 so I'm at the edge of what's possible at the moment. Looks like I could have another 10Mb/s of upload though since that's at 30,000.

Unfortunately after all that I discovered I have no spare sockets on my router in the server room. I used the last of them up running a cable downstairs for a second network switch. That's a pity - I was thinking of setting up some kind of logging on my server. Doesn't seem worth installing a switch in there - especially since I'm already very low on power sockets smile
