Re: Should people with cabinet issues write to Ian Livingsto

[re: VictorMeldrew] [link to this post]

Hello,

I've been reading this thread with interest as I live in an area where the fabled DEC'11 spreadsheet said my cab LNILC/66 was going to have FTTP but that there was no longer a planned date for deployment (phase 5b). I am unable to get any information from anyone at any ISP on if fibre is in any way likely in my area. All cabs in my surrounding areas have fibre, with houses that I back onto 30m away on a neighbouring cab already having FTTP. Do people think is reasonable to email OR to see if anyone can give an indication when fibre is likely, if at all?

Thanks.

We have at least four cabinets in our area which have been scheduled on roadworks.org and have never appeared. They started installing cabinets in February, with the bulk being done fairly quickly, then the odd ones being done more slowly until we were left with what we have now.

Out those four one was within a building site so can understand that being left, but can't see any reason for the others, but as I said above they are slowly doing the straglers.

Got that address from openreach's website (fttx section). Emailed them to ask about the checker not showing a estimate for our house yet was for the other houses on the road and they very helpfully told me what cab i was on, the state of it and the projected live time (even told me to keep a eye on the checker as they might relese it early since everything was done)

I live for the one, I die for the one.
Yep i really am THAT thick!

Smallworld Cable ..... 5Meg then upped to 20Meg
O2 ADSL2+ .... 13.6Meg (ish)
Sky ADSL2+ .... 3.5Meg
Sky FTTC .... Well when it gets here and considering i can see the site for the cab from my bedroom window im expecting the full 40meg

So after contacting so many people over the past 2 months, and now on 4th install date from Carillion,

The issue obviously lies with Carillion , they keep fobbing BT/Openreach off with a new date that they don't fulfill, month to month.

I just dont understand why BT dont grow a set and ask why they keep failing.

Any one have any contacts at Carillion ?

I tried emailing the above address and got a very swift response that my PCP is not commercially viable to upgrade to fibre... I guess at least I can stop wondering.

Thanks for posting the address.

update.

new road works in place at my cab for 30/08/12

would be nice to see a fibre cab in place 3 months late, even still other works to get done
even if they do install it frown
