Unable to get Infinity in Sindlesham

Hi.

Maiden post.

Our internet speed is less than 1mbps so was pleased to get notification from BT re availability of Infinity in March. Called Customer Services who said would be within 6 weeks and said that "line test"? showed speed would be around 38mbps.

Since then I have been told we are unable to get Infinity but BT can't/won't tell me why.

We live in a new build property (May 2010) and had terrible trouble getting connected when we moved in. I believe we were told the cabinet was full and we are connected directly to the exchange.

Could someone tell me what this actually means and the implications for getting a decent connection speed?

Any help would be appreciated. My postcode is RG41 5DF

According to our records, that postcode is served by 3 possible cabs spanned over 2 exchanges.

Cab 19 (wokingham exchange) = 54.00% of properties
Cab 73 (wokingham exchange) = 27.00% of properties
Cab 15 (early exchange) = 18.00% of properties

But, all 3 cabs are live and enabled for FTTC so you should be able to get FTTC regardless of which cabinet you are on. To know for sure, I will need to check based on your telephone number. Therefore can you please PM me your tel number and address so I can properly check for you?

I suspect the cabinet you are on is a couple of kilometres away, so thats why they are not offering the service (due to distance).

But if the OPs comment about EO is correct then it does not matter about which cabinets are enabled. And Infinity is a definite NO.

Unless there is a way to get a new line through one of the cabinets.

Its not an EO line, just a long D side from cab 73 so out of range for VDSL2

Yes, that's off cab 19 just opposite Sainsbury's. Google maps shows that postcode as just down by little bridge going over to the Poacher pub.However, I *think* the new builds are further back up the road.

Worked on an FTTC fault for a property down by the bridge, could only muster 2 meg due to sheer distance.

Guessing that the 38 was a guess, due to the new build not showing properly. Might get lucky 15 to 20 maybe.

Plenty of spares on the DSLAM a couple of months ago.

Really off 73 ? They must have run UG a different route, others down that road are off the OH feed from 19.

Yes, defo on 73. Says so in Tags and confirmed by Openreach too. Looks like those new builds are on that cab also.

Where is cab 73, to save me looking please?
