BT are all over Sudbury, Suffolk at the moment laying cables to FTTC Cabinets (that have been there for about 6 months). Does this mean they are (finally) connecting power up to the cabinets?

It sounds like their where multiple blockages in the underground ducts, which cause long delays for the fibre tubing to be laid (is black in colour), once this is laid then fibre will be blown through it to the cabinets.
Power to the cabinets is installed by the local power company or sub contactors working for them, as they are a seperate company their progress can be very slow and does slow the overall progress of the rollout.
Openreach engineers then work on the connectors in the cabinets and then it goes over to testing for a few weeks before being ready for live.

The Power Companies can usually provide power withing 7 days prpovided BT give the required notice to them. 90% of power delays are down to BT who seem unable to schedule anything.

From the Utility compnies who all have SLA's

Have a look at this post, as the information is from a Openreach manager on part of the rollout.
It shows the multiple problems that Openreach face in their rollout of FTTC and of interest is the delay of up to 6 weeks for Power.

In my nearest town cabinets that have been installed wait upwards of 6 weeks before power is installed.

Well it looks like it's been delayed by another 3 months.

You continually spout rubbish.
http://www.ukpowernetworks.co.uk/internet/en/connect...1. For simple works we can complete your connection within 6-8 weeks of receiving your request. Sometimes we need to work in the public highway and it can take up to three months to get the necessary permits.

The Power Utlity companies will install the Power to the BT schedule originally supplied to them. The Utility companies have an SLA and usually achieve a 97% adhereence to the schedule. The delays are more likely down to BT as their schedule is like shifting sand

What bit of wehat I said is rubbish. THat is the power companies SLA. BT have or sothey claima rollout schedule. They need to give the power companies the approriate notice. So they need to give the Uility copanies a minimum period of notice of 8 weeks and if it involves highway works it is 3 months.

That is BT spin. BT need to give the power companies 8 weeks notice for power intallation and 3 months where highways works are involved. BT are simply not giving this notice.IT is BT where the problem is. THey have to schedule the work according to the Project plan but they simply are not doing so.They cannot expect to phone the power company upand expect themto turn up the next day

What bit of wehat I said is rubbish. Just about every post you write to these forums. You're totally clueless and proceed to demonstate this to all virtually everyday. Step away from the keyboard and post only when you have something constructive and meaningful to say

It looks as if BT are starting on the Suffolk Intervention program early probably due to the penalty clauses.THey have extensive planned roadworks going out well into next year

probably due to the penalty clauses.
I guess they're worried about not getting it finished in 15 years.

There are no SLA's with UK power compaines around cabinet power connection

Most of Sudbury is but not all. The plaaned BT work is an advance part f the intervention program. They are building out from Sudbury through Litttle Cornard and Assington Road and around Boxford
