BT Infinity - Profile reset, fault still exists?

Hi,

I recently had BT infinity installed, in the first day or two I noticed that I had huge HEC errors in the around 10-15k.

After 24-48 hours my sync dropped and noticed that I had interleaving turned on, after the 10 day training period I've had 2 engineers around so far attempting to find a fault on my line.

The first engineer replaced the "drop" cable and the second engineer that came could not find any fault but rang openreach to reset my profile as I wanted interleaving turned off.

24 hours passed TBB Ping monitor noticed constant packetloss during this period and after 24 hours again my line dropped and re-syned which turned on interleaving again!!

When interleave is turned on I get around 45-60ms pings during peak times which I feel is too high for gaming and want it turned off.

Does interleave indicate a fault on the line? I really don't want interleaving turned on, I spoke to BT but they cannot turn it off only reset the profile which would require another BT engineer.

I feel it's pointless engineer after engineer coming to reset my profile as after 24 hours it turned it back on, while interleaving is off TBB notices constant packet loss.

I'm 1.97km away from the exchange

There is little that you can do, as BT will not disable DLM or allow a connection to be configured how the end user wants it ,Sounds like you have a bad D'side pair, if not then it suffers from some form of outside interference
That's the thing with BT if your vdsl /adsl service works fine then all well and good, you will get a reasonable standard of service, but should you be unfortunate enough to be allocated a line that has problems with interference or is of low quality , then your stuffed as their DLM ect will apply all that kak kar that gives high latency and lower than optimal sync speeds , it's IMO mainly used to stem support calls, By masking the problem

Keep reporting it, simple as that. Painful, but with enough visits, you will get an engineer who will look a little further. Looks like you are on a nice short D-side, hence the full sync. When the next engineer comes, get them to run a manual test (not the scripted version) see if this shows the errors, if it does, they should chase this. Have either of them swapped out the modem and/or the router ? Did either check for REIN ?
