BT installed FTTC in my area ?

[link to this post]

Is that BT FTTC installed ?

http://postimage.org/image/qhdy4s8sn/

http://postimage.org/image/itoc1s8i3/

If yes to both, it mean my exchange Cuckoo Oak could be the next roll out plan by BT later this year ?

It is late but think they are not openreach based, look too thin for FTTC cabs

The pole next to it is the obvious clue.

It'll be a mobile relay from another mast or one that has a fibre feed in to it. As you say, too thin to be FTTC cabs.

Their is still the final announcement to come from Openreach, so your exchange may be their but more likely to be upgraded via the BDUK project for your area.

I think my council had withdrawal BDUK (Telford & Wrekin Council) from government. I don't know why is this ? My exchange will never get FTTC for the next 5 years and I just know it.

The pole next to it. At the top is it vaguely like this? Both are phone masts

http://s0.geograph.org.uk/photos/06/07/060712_8c4af4...

Notice in the photo next to the mast is green boxes looking just like the ones you've taken pics of.

If so it's a mobile phone mast (as has been suggested) and that green box is for whichever mobile network company is operating the telephone mast.

Their is a news item from Telford and Wrekin council back in January

http://www.telford.gov.uk/press/article/1123/council...

Has been no more news from Telford or BDUK, its possible that BDUK will press ahead and deliver a soultion for Telford and Wrekin but have to wait and see what happens.

Why it taking so long hear nothing since January. I bet Telford Council don't want to spend on broadband ? They did pulled out of BDUK.

Well the last bit of news was from bduk on the 24th May

http://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/2012/05/frustra...

The key part is: BDUK has since given Telford & Wrekin until the end of May 2012 to re-join the Shropshire project or their funding will be withdrawn.

Their has been nothing since, maybe Andrew can find out whats the latest situation from BDUK- as their should be a new update by now?

Yes I already aware of it as far as I know that Telford had withdrawal from BDUK. Had failed to agreed on 31st May. I was really angry and blame Telford council of not interested.

Surely you're the person best placed to post news about your area here? You have a direct interest in it, and have shown that you know where to look.

Well you already have 16mbit downstream and 1.1mb upstream, would you like to swap with me and have my 2mbit connection? If not, stop whining that you may have to wait a year or two!

Many would very much like a connection as fast as yours.

Oh if I had my choice I would have BT openreach FTTP, though we have to make do with what we have, or move house (which isn't an option for everyone obviously).

All I meant was be aware you could be in a far worse position than you currently are. With 16mbit, you can download HD movies in a reasonable amount of time (it takes me days, as if I download at my maximum 2mbit, the connection is unresponsive for everything else!).
