BTW it is a Friday
Indeed it is. Poets day! You are forgiven for being poetic.

Even better if it had been the first Friday in April 2016.

Connection - Plusnet Extra Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 53.5/15.2Mbps @ 600m. - BQM

Isn't it more that it requires multiple people?

All told it probably doesn't take more than half a day to secure the cabinet, connect the electricity, connect the fibre and then test.

But one group fit the cabinet, another runs the fibre, another attaches the fibre, yet another runs the electricity (and certainly in my cabinet another group connected the electricity to the cabinet) and then someone comes and tests (this is currently taking in excess of two weeks for this person to turn up).

The FFTC cab that will someday supply the street that live in was installed during July/August along with quite a few more,

Then sometime in September the exchange was marked as accepting orders (before it's 3rd placeholder date elapsed 31/09/12)
To date there are only 3 FTTC cabs accepting orders that are connected to the same exchange, these are situated in areas where VM cable is also available
The rest of those FTTC cabs are like the one in this street ,waiting the fibre optic spine to be installed ,
And have been given a placeholder date for 31/12/12
Currently there is next to no BT openreach work listed on the local councils streetworks site,
But i have noticed that they have announced a smaller exchange in the local area as accepting orders ,and again at least 1 FTTC cab in a VM cable area, whilst others who don't have the luxury of choice of VM cable or get particularly great speeds are left out in the cold so to speak,
And then they will whine about a slow ar near non existant take up ,

You forget we are having to deal with a superb project manager making a huge number of posts about Openreach's ineptness, who for some unaccountable reason is not getting a 6-figure salary from Openreach for saving them millions of pounds from the costs incurred by poor installation planning.

Said project manager also knows for a fact and repeatedly tells us that OR are getting further and further behind their FTTC roll-out schedule, despite their bringing forward the completion date at regular intervals.

You, like the rest of us, seem fully aware of the steps and possible snag areas smile.

I cant remember the exact date my cabinet went in but I did post on here about it, however either friday or saturday orders were enabled for infinity which I think is 1-2 months after cabiner first went in.

In reply to a post by Ribble:
I believe there is an issue with the power installation at this cabinet, which i understand is an earthing issue, which is delaying its integration.

Thanks for the feedback. Is this information that's available somewhere in an Openreach system of some description? Just curious to know how you managed to find this out.

So by way of an update, I'd been exchanging emails with Openreach over the last month or two (the responses take a fair time to come back).

The last email I had from them was earlier in the week and it stated that the cabinet should have completed the commissioning process within 10 working days from the email.

Imagine my pleasant surprise when I went onto the BT site earlier today and the line checker told me that I could order Fibre now and was predicted a downstream rate of 71.1 vs 20 for the upload.

At last!
