[link to this post]

Hi everyone.

Can some tell me where the cabinet my street is connected to. I live in cove, Aberdeen on langdykes drive.

I have noticed that 90% of cove has had there cabinet activated for over 2 weeks but yet we are still waiting.

You need to tell people your post code, have you put your number in the BT Wholesale checker that may give you some info. Or looked at the Openreach where and when map to see if it is delayed?

That's the exchange you are connected to. Although the date says 31st December this is not necessary 100% accurate.

You are connected to Cab 33. This is not yet live from the Infinity checker
see http://www.coolwebhome.co.uk/fibre/checker.php

It is likely that your cab is still being worked on as Aberdeen Kincorth has only just been activated.

There is no individual detail published on a cab basis unless the cab is delayed when a flag appears on the Openreach website telling you what the reason is.

There is nothing on this at present. http://www.superfast-openreach.co.uk/where-and-when/

The Infinity site says Dec 2012 for your postcde. If you keep checking with your number it will tell you when the cab goes live.

Thanks. I know where cab 33 is. I was I was on something eles as there is no new cab installed near it. So do by always install a new green cab when fiber get installed. There is a massive green unit (i think its a power unit) less than 20 yards away from cab 33 would it be based in there

If you look on this page the ECI and Huawie cabinets are FTTC cabs, does it look like any of them?

The FTTC cab can be up to 100 meters away.

You can also look on here to see if there are any scheduled roadworks for telecoms work where the cabinet is, that can sometimes give you an idea of whats going on.

No, I think that's water and its HUGE - not really a cabinet at that size.

There's never been anything on either local council or roadworks websites for cabinet installs in Cove.

There's no new green boxes in the vicinity of those cabinets at all, with fresh tarmac?

It may be that they are having difficulty finding a suitable location for the fibre cabinet. Are there any lamp posts nearby where they would take power from, that would be within the 100m of the existing cabs?

Odd that nothing has been done, as you say there's been a load of work in the rest of Cove recently.

Don't despair you are looking at images that are 4 years old!

It looks like you are only looking on Google!. You need to go out and look around the old cabinet, it is likely that somewhere within 50m of it will be either.

A new cab as in the links posted by Ronski.
A marked up area ( usually in yellow) where the cab will be put.

The google street maps are from 2008 for that picture!.

I would expect the new cab to be quite close along side the old as there is plenty of space.

There is no reason why the cab would not be done, seems an ideal area from others that have been completed.

Remember that Openreach take some time to complete all the works planned for a town, it is not a big bang then nothing.

kitcat is right, our cabinets started appearing in February this year, most of them are in now, but there are still some left to do.

Try emailing nga.enquiries-at-openreach.co.uk with your phone number and address, they may well tell you what the hold up is.

that link asks for a username and password.

The new cab near me (AB22 8FG) has been installed couple weeks ago now but the tracker from Talk Talk who I'm with at the moment just says available December 2012. The roadworks does have a symbol up for low impact works - not sure if the power/cables have actually been hooked up - do they do this when they install the box or does that come later ?

Kitcat the images are to show what type of cabinet there is in the area.

It seems strange that bt would do work in cove then leave to comeback and install later. I would of thought that would be wasting money.

I emailed the enquiry email address and got a call back, they could really say anything apart form wait till 31st December (expected live date) I asked them if my cabinet was upgraded and they could not tell me as the information was not available.

Not sure what to do next

There are a few of our cabinets that have not yet been installed, although planned in the December 2011 spreadsheet, and there's some which are now scheduled to be done which weren't scheduled in December 2011

They could be held up due to technical reasons, or as costs have dropped and have now become viable, or were simply overlooked in the initial plans, Openreach often come back and do cabinets not done when the majority were done.

Yes its the next place holder date- the next ones are end of June/September/December.

Keep an eye on the BT wholesale asdl checker as it will tell you when you can order.

Not looking good frown Got a reply to my email

Thank you for your enquiry about fibre broadband.
We are currently waiting for the power utility company to connect power, install the meter and safety certify the cabinet.
Once this is completed, we will continue with the build process. However, until we are given a date for this work to commence, I cannot give a precise date for when the cab will go live.
We are hoping however, that the cab will be live by early April.

Still in the dark about the remaining parts of Cove to have their cabinets upgraded.
Waiting for Cab 14 to be done, but given the amount of work done on Cove Road and Old Wellington Road recently I don't know when BT will be able to get to it. Kind of annoying as I saw December 2012 as the rollout date before we moved to Cove, and was one of the reasons I wasn't too bothered by the existing 3mb broadband limit. I mean... my mobile phone gets better speeds than my home broadband!
