Hello All
I noticed in Oct/Nov 2012 that cabs either side of my cab were getting fibre cabs fitted.
Checking list it showed I was unlucky and they were skipping my cab
I recent checked http://dslchecker.bt.com/adsl/adslchecker.welcome
And its now stating my cab is to be made fttc by 31st march 2013
I was wondering if this is true as it seems strange to skip my cab then return so soon after doing the cabs either side
exchange LVWID
postcode WA8 3HX .. CAB 53
many thanks to any 1 who can shed light on this

Did you use your phone number in that checker?
If you just used the postcode that's unreliable, given that two cabinets serve yours and the other is in Phase 8b, which sounds about right.
The phone number is by far the best checker. If you don't have one it recognises, then the full address.

Oh noooooo!
There'll be people on here who are horrified to hear that a Virgin subscriber is planning to swap to BT-based fibre. They can't understand why BT are choosing to enable cabinets in those areas at all...

I had no choice been 1.8km from exchange when we moved home ..either 6-10mb adsl or 50mb cable
In the end I kept my adsl line as well never trusting virgin media ..funny how they confirmed my fears
Grabbed few movies off skyHD movies on demand oneday while ill and went over the stm ....So thank the lord for BT

My cab is set for March 2013 too. I wouldn't hold your breath. More likely to be September the way OR seem to work

I expect he'd be happy with that, seeing as 12 months ago his cabinet wasn't scheduled .

True. My cab only appeared on the list last December. Only got the March date 2 weeks ago. New cab should be here soon I guess. :-/

Just a quick update from [email protected]
"Your locality has recently been reassessed for inclusion in a later phase of work in your area. At present all the works steps have to be done and the current estimated date for cabinet lvwid53 enablement is close June 2013 assuming there are no major issues."
seems they a re running a bit behind
better late than never I suppose

I would not take much notice of any dates BT give. Best gues is sometime this year. When who knows. I would guess sometime between now & June is most likely

Just wanted to say that this isn't uncommon. When they did the work for the cabs either side it made yours cheaper to enable as they put fibre closer to your cabinet, cleared ducts on the way to it, whatever.
It's very common indeed to have the bigger and easier to do cabinets on an exchange enabled first followed by a couple of phases of in-fill.

update 2 ... BT have just put FTTC cab next to my old cab

It actually was for this thread, but I went to edit it for a spelling mistake, pressed the wrong button, and deleted it by mistake. I then couldn't be bothered to re-write it... but at least you read it anyway
