FTTC - Rhyl

Well, well, well... after years of suicidal broadband speeds OR have firmed up a date for Sunny Rhyl!

It was listed originally in Phase 9B for End of 2013, but looks like they've moved it forward. I did email Openreach with my cabinet number and he did say April 2013, but I took it with a pinch of salt. Although over the past week a shiny FTTC box has appeared!

Anyway, there is no value to this post apart from a broadband geek getting very excited and wanted to get excited with other broadband type people!

and as if by magic.... an FTTC cab appears!

You're not the only one in Rhyl looking forward to FOBB. I've been frothing at the mouth waiting for it for about 2 years!

So everywhere that has FTTC enable, and has access to the Infinity service, will have one of those new cabinets nearby somewhere?

If thats the case, im gonna have a walk around my area, and see if I can find mine. It's got to be around somewhere, because im getting Infinity 2 installed on the 16th.

FTTC cabinets popping up all over the place down the coast all the way towards anglsey too no announcement dates here yet. Hope we are not too far behind.

I keep seeing BT installing the Fibre, and also different cabinets popping up.

I've just migrated from Sky LLU to PlusNET. It was definitely worth the move

The ones further down the coast come under the BDUK scheme for Wales, the dates are likely to be on the superfast Wales site first.

The whole of Wales is meant to be 90% covered (population wise) by 2015 so they will have to move fast, and it sounds like they are, as the contract only started last month.

Even more of a surprise, Now not just appearing but some are live.

On the Openreach site Bangor is now live! It appeared this morning on the excel file.

I suspect only a few cabs will be live, Have to find out if anyone can order, fancy trying out some Bangor postcodes on the checker?

just saw this http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-21544791 and headed here to check on this thread just to see if anyone knew anything. Thanks for posting that info. All the boxes seem to have been installed because the guys laying the cables don't seem to be around here anymore. If it's nice this weekend i'll dust off the bike and go for a nosey down towards Pwlleli and Dolgellau. They sure are moving fast that's for sure, they did the whole Bangor area in a few days.

I noticed BT guys working on the new boxes a couple of weeks ago and previously noticed the power guys digging up the roads. As of just now my postcode/phone number is not showing at fiber enabled yet. Tried a few postcodes close to the exchange too and nothing showing yet. Great news anyway shouldnt be too far off.

I'll ask a BT guy when i see one, if they don't know i doubt anyone will.
