There's a slight complication there. The ISP has to have ordered the (free) data extension kit.

Another solution is to have the modem by the master socket, and run ethernet yourself from it to the TV area to connect the Superhub.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,website and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 54.3/15.4Mbps @ 600m. - BQM

Oh dear, that may be a problem. See what the engineer says when he arrives this afternoon.

All the Sky installs I have seen have come with the required 'home wiring solution' module ticked, Don't see why yours should be different.

On top of the advice already given, it should be noted that this HWS allows the engineer to shift the NTE, this is often the preferred option for the engineer, as the data extension kits are slower to install, as you can only cleat the cable, rather than use a cable tacker.

If it's an Openreach engineer, there should be no issue, just show them exactly where you want the VDSL modem and router to go. If it's a contractor, you might have to be a little more strident, these guys are paid per job, so will do as little as possible, given half a chance.

Good luck, and keep us posted.

That's good news Zarjaz. Are there any others you know of for future advice please, apart from BT Retail?

So NTE5 moves do not use the same cable?

Fibre installation is complete. He moved master to behind tv, then ran telephone wire back to old master. (For telephone only). New master is vdsl plate. Which is what I wanted. Took him 2 and a half hours. End result ? Download 39999 Kbps upload 10000 Kbps. One v happy bunny.

home plugs turn your ring mains into a network, nice and simple to get a network connection from one place to another without using wireless or network cables.

only downsides are they are not as fast and can cause a lot of interference and even effect broadband speeds going by whats been posted recently.

Pretty much most of them, you get the odd few 'smaller' ISP's whose tasks still state modem only, but it's rare.
So NTE5 moves do not use the same cable?

Always more than one way to skin a cat Bob !

From the sound of it the OP has had a pukka job done.
