FTTC - Joining the Quarterly Delay Club!

Afternoon All,

So Openreach seem to have done another data update today, announcing exchanges updating the Where & When.

My exchange has been moved back 3 months (What a surprise?!?!)

It does strike me slightly that there is a evidant struggle for skilled tradesman to get work, but somehow it takes 4 months to run power to an FTTC cabinet.

Maybe I should stop moaning, but there's nothing like seeing an FTTC cab there waiting to be used and you can't do anything about it!

The end quater dates are just holding slots, the cabinets go live when they are ready- you can email openreach and they will give a estimated date, take about 10 days.

Power is one of the slower parts of the rollout as cabinets have been known to wait months for it to be installed- can be a number of factors why they delay is caused but it varies per area.

4 months, that's now't.

Our FTTC cab was installed last March & still no power to it

I'd be running an extension lead from someone's outdoor socket to the cabinet!

My date has been changed from 31-Mar-13 to 31-Mar-14.
Cabinet has been in place since April.

I check the planed roadworks on the web, most days, now't yesterday.

This evening, it's popped up as power cable work at cab, Feb 26 - Mar 4.

Same for me - sure it would have been about April when the cabinet was installed, still no service.

Do you think they've given up guessing at when and where they'll get work completed, more so given the recent upheld complaint about the 'three month' farce?

"Set it to 2014, Jim - we'll have it done by then for sure...right?"

This sounds like a major re-scheduling.

For years, quarterly quarter-slippage has been happening during the last 8 days or so of the quarter. In this case we already have several such reports on the same day, and we aren't half way through February.

Well the 2014 dates are end of the commercial rollout, prehaps Openreach is just being realistic with the checker for a change or its a mistake etc.
